F1 To Race On The Moon In 2025

Following the recent trend of expanding F1’s horizons, plans for a Lunar Grand Prix in 2025 have just been announced.

Despite pre-sale tickets having a sky-high price tag, the organisers confident that the stadiums will be full. In fact, they’ve already claimed to have one ticket sold for every lunar citizen. However, other sports have found sustaining support on the Moon to be tough.

Russell took it further, suggesting the race may crater F1s reputation. “You know what it’s like on the Moon. One week it’s full, the next it’s half-empty. The current demand may only be a phase. It won’t be much of an event if the crowd have no atmosphere. It’s a loony idea!”

Freight-ning Costs?

Getting cars, equipment and staff to the Moon will not be cheap. Indeed, Toto Wolf has been howling about the costs being astronomical. However, F1 and the FIA have done their best to alleviate concerns by sticking their fingers in their ears and ignoring him. They are confident that they won’t hear any complaints once they’re actually there, due to the lack of sound. They also claimed the teams would find ways of making the transport costs cheaper, adding “It’s not rocket science!”

Despite this, almost every team is concerned. The only exception is Red Bull who have already built a rocket ship they can use. Their only gripe is the length of the trip itself, which may increase their catering costs.

Car Adjustments

Ultimately, F1 are confident the tide of opinions will change. In simulations, they were particularly impressed by the ease of overtaking at the track due to the lack of dirty air. “There are some teething issues, of course. Right now DRS doesn’t do anything. And there’s no downforce. And the combustion engine won’t work without oxygen. But apart from that there will be minimal changes needed to the car. I hear that Alpine are delighted their car will be underweight for once.”

Driver Opinions Of F1 Moon Race

Some drivers have expressed positive reactions to the news. Felipe Nasa suggested the Moon may eclipse other locations. Alonso has also come out in support, with his famous quote “All the time you have to leave for space” finally being realised. Other prominent figures in F1 are hoping for further space races in the future. Mick Schumacher-Levy suggested Jupiter, Lando would like a return to Cloud City, and Andrea Stella suggested a race on the Sun might be hot. For now though, the Moon is as far as F1 is willing to go to provide an out of this world experience.

The Lunar Grand Prix will be conveniently scheduled in the middle of a triple header to provided maximum excitement. It will be shown live on satellite TV on 31st June, 2025. Alternatively, you can see the whole race live just be looking upwards.
